Is there any way to get Viewport Shading to work? Maby a button "use local Cycles for viewport shading", this would be very useful for me. As I work on my quite powerful Mac Laptop (M1 Max) and then render on my WS over CrowdRender (Optix) when I need to see more detailed results.
And I would love if it would be possible to also send the finished tiles when they are finished.
Ok I see. The problem for me is that many of my working scenes are huge, like 5 Gb and so on. So re-syncing to se a small change is time consuming (is it normal that a sync on LAN could take 5-10 min of such a scene?). Right now it fails everytime thou.. I will test to se if it is the "selected object with material bug" talked about on youtube. Ok, to bad. Seems like there could be a simple way to tell the renderer to send the tiles in, they must be saved somewhere on the node, maby not in memory. But I don't know. I am just trying to give good points :)
Hi Fredrik :)
Viewport shading will work, but you need to have cycles set as your render engine. You can switch back to Crowdrender at any time and do a quick render though. Just be sure to do a resync before you do to update all your render nodes with any changes you might make to shaders/materials.
Deferred viewport rendering sound super cool, we'll look into it, sounds like its going to involve forking Blender though as we've looked at this before and can't see a way to do this in our addon without making changes to Blender's C/C++ code as well.
