Ok so, ive a got bit random mix of computers, given they are all the same dell workstations with RTX 2070.. some are running centOS , some are Windows and some others are Ubuntu.
and there are a few leneovo laptos also.
I even have a few random macs (mac pro, iMac and a few macbooks) around and I tried to get any of those connected to each other, the best I get was with a ubuntu server and a windows client, it would show as connected and synced but the render didnt start.
They are all connected to the same physical switch, there is nothing blocking anything, I even tried with disabling the firewalls, and even direct connected a few machines using a "dumb" switch and manuall assigned IPs, hell i even tried running a DHCP/DNS server on it but that also didnt help.
I have even tried to get my 2 laptops at home to "link" (windows/centOS alienware and debian thinkpad) .
I also tried to run blender as root and still, nothing, dead.
and of course I tried with cloud connect thing, but that just resulted in more of nothing.
I tried 2.79b and 2.8 final, but I cant get anything to work at all, am I overlooking something totally obvious here? it just dies at failed to connect..
Yep! Just to be sure, I've sent you an updated meeting request. Hopefully it shows the appointment in your timezone? Either way I can confirm you're right, the meeting will be you're Thursday. Though I originally had it planned for your evening my morning. Let me know what time of day is preferable. I think my morning and your evening line up better with neither of us having to be up late!
Thursday at the same time should work. So, your Thursday evening is my Wednesday morning (just trying to make sure. But either way, that will work!
Hey James. I said yes to the invite but I was just invited to speak at a local conference on Tuesday so it’s going to be a little tougher to do a call. If it makes more sense we can push another day? Otherwise I can remote into all of my machines from the conference floor?
Hi Finn, did you still need help? If you prefer not to do a video call we can perhaps chat over Skype or GH? We need to really see the problem you are having happen in front of us, and video calls that allow screen sharing are great for this, but understand if you can't spare the time.
The offer is there for us to help you get it to work if you want though :)
James
Hi Finn, thanks for posting, apologies you had a rough time getting it to work. Best way to trouble shoot this is to find a time for a video call. We do this regularly and it helps solve problems with connection quickly. Next best thing is to send us the log files from your master computer and one of the nodes you tried to connect to and render. From what you wrote in your post the ubuntu server and windows client could at least connect so perhaps we should look at those logs first.
We're always highly motivated to help you out as we want to see these problems for ourselves and engineer a better addon.
All the best
James
