Hi there,
I have a 2 pc set up(work/personal). I'm trying to connect my personal machine as a render node with no success. Both Blenders are 3.3 and CRs are 4.3. I've logged in and both PCs are seeing each other in the Render Node list.
When I go to connect the sync fails every time. Both PCs are connected to the same ethernet switch as well.
I've attached the CR zip log.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!!!
Hi Drew, ok, I can see you're on windows there, and that you upgraded to Blender 3.3 after previously being on an older version of Blender. There's a good chance this is firewall related, so let's rule that out next.
Windows, for some reason, will not prompt you again to allow a new installation of Blender to receive incoming traffic (this needs to happen so we can connect your computers together over your network).
So, it's likely that, although there is a rule in your firewall for blender, that the rule is for the previous version of Blender that worked, and Blender 3.3, because it is on a different path, is blocked.
I did an instagram reel showing how to quickly add a new rule which you can watch using this link -> https://www.instagram.com/reel/CiQ_6ehjz6K/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link
Try adding a new rule for Blender 3.3 to receive TCP traffic, restart your computer and try again?
Hi Drew (apologies for mistaking your name before)!
Ok, I've taken a look through these logs, I can see where you have had trouble connecting, one thing I would suggest to do here is to either restart both computers, or, try opening the task manager and manually killing all the blender processes you find, then restart Blender on each computer, make sure the addon is enabled and started, and then try again.
As for sync failure, this doesn't stop you from rendering anymore. It's there as a warning only. You can check if something you care about is not synchronised properly by checking out the list of events for each computer in your list. They all should have a little speech bubble icon with a letter "i" inside it. Clicking this opens the list and you can see what isn't synced. A lot of setups can fail to sync where one or more systems has an RTX card, and the master doesn't (or sometimes the master does and one of the other computers doesn't). In this case, the denoising settings are usually to blame since the machines without RTX cards do not have the Optix setting for denoising and this technically means the two data sets are not synchronised.
Hope this helps!
James
