Hello,
i tried out the new 0.1.4 version of crowdrender and i used the classroom file from blender.org. But the remotecomputer renders only the room, There are no tables and chairs. The part of the local machine renders correct. Look at the screenshot. You see, the lift part is from the local machine and the middle and right part from the remote pc. Anybody an idea why that happens?
I think I found problem, it was my particle system, but why is beyond me... When I create simple cube with HDRI, every work just fine. Even when I recreated particle system with the same values on new blend file crowd render works without problems.
Fun fact, even when I create new file and import something from old file (plane, of particles) everything goes to shit... anything that comes to my mind is because I created particles with older version of blender, or blender doesn't like me.
Anyway, I render this on single PC, and next project will be 2x Faster !
And this form fist pc that i start renders.
Hi, Thank you for replay, i coudn't find and usefull information in "render.txt" files but i found something in "server_session.log"

is it helpfull ? this log form second computer that has missing HDRI.
Hi I have similar problem, but with HDR,
Im working on blender-2.80.0-git.cd92f8ea4626-windows64, and cr_017_bl280_prel_04 ( Thank you for sending my prelese verison, your emial go to spam folder and by mistake i delete the whole thing, and did't have chance to thank you ).
All files .blend and Hdr are on local network drive that both computers are using, ( when I open file on second PC everything is fine ) but when i try render trough crowdrender i got something like this:
Im doing something wrong with setup ?
Just a thought, but cant you add a chekbox labeled "dependencies" where the user can add for instance the smoke_cache folder or other files related to the render? I.e it opens a file browser where you can select files and folders that you would like to send to the other nodes.
Yes, It's my Airport Time capsule. I did how ever had to connect to that share from my other computers.
Nice! Is that a shared location on your network?
I actually got it to work if I wrote the file path like in the image above.
Thank you James! I am going to test right away :D
Hi Thomas, smoke cache, as i understand it is generated as external files, these need to be located on a shared location that each node can access. This isn't handled automatically by CrowdRender, yet! You can specify an external location to bake simulations to, if you make this a shared location then all the other nodes should be able to access it.
Another method is to manually transfer the cache to all nodes, however this is a bit more complicated as you need to find the project folder on each machine and put the cache there. You also need to make sure you tell blender to use relative paths, not absolute paths (so something like \\smoke_cache, where smoke_cache is a folder in the same project directory as your blend file).
Sadly we're sill working on a way to make it work with cloud rendering. It seems you cannot pack cache files into blend. To be honest this may be for the better since with smoke at least, its fairly quick to generate the cache, but it can get very large indeed. I have a ten second test file that generated 1.77GB of cache. I'd honestly spend longer than that uploading the cache than transferring it. But as always your situation may be different if you have higher upload speeds (here in Australia my upload speed is 0.9 Mb/s which is quite low).
Hope this helps, please reply if you need further assistance:D
James
Ment mine local network :/
Hi! Is there a way to render smoke simulations on your local network?
Please do! And let us know what happens!
ah ok, i understand, So i try to append all objects to the scene and look what happens :)
Hi Gopper :D, Thanks so much for testing! I know whats up with this file, its external dependencies like the chairs and tables which are linked/appended from other blend files. You can pack textures into the blend file no worries. But you can't (as far as i know, hmmm maybe I don't properly understand the difference between link and append?) pack blend files into your main blend file.
Since CrowdRender is still lacking the ability to transfer external dependencies such as linked files or any file that you don't pack, it won't transfer the models for the chairs and tables (and the lights for the ceiling are also missing). Trust me, we're working like crazy to design a feature to automatically manage this, but its not trivial.
I'm going to experiment a bit to see if there is a way around it, like append vs link to see if appending actually stores the models in the blend file. This way you'll be able to pack all textures, and append all models and get your scene to work. Sadly, cache files for smoke and fluid can't be handled this way, which is why we're working on a solution to the problem so you don't have to think about it so much, it will just be automatic.
Hope this makes sense.
