None of these steps were working for me. Uninstalling/reinstalling blender on all nodes + master and re-enabling the CR plugin prompted a firewall warning from Windows which I had to accept. All is working now!

Hey @James Crowther I've been away from Blender for a while. Just now got around to upgrading to 025 on all my devices. Getting a constant "sync failed" I've tried completely removing CR from all devices and installing fresh. @ndongンドング 一信 I may have spoken to soon. I never finished the render last time, just saw that it was working. Now, it seems that the bit rendered on my node doesn't return as part of my "combined" render. Here's a screenshot of what returns using manual load balancing: 60% local, 40% node If I set to Auto Balance, this is what I get My node machine finishes its portion in seconds (because it's not actually doing anything) and my local took 5:30 to render that sliver. Here's another peek at my shared folder. You can see that the cache file matches the .blend file. Any more ideas? Also, here are the actual finished files. It's not just a blender display issue If I open up the xcr files in photoshop, it appears they're just blank as well.

@ndongンドング 一信 Thanks for taking your time to keep helping me through this! I will try your solution when I get home today and let you know! ****UPDATE**** That did the trick! I went from a 35 minute render to an [estimated] 18 minute render!

@ndongンドング 一信 I was so excited that this might finally be the answer! Alas, I'm still getting a null render. Here's what my blender_share looks like as well as a GIF of what happens during the render. Pay no attention to the fact that the screen turns gray at the end, that's a bug that James is working out for me. I would expect this render to take upwards of 5 minutes.

@ndongンドング 一信 I'm running CR v0.2.2 currently. I just downloaded it about a week ago. Every time I resync, a new "temp0001.blend" file is created. Is that perhaps a different naming convention for the same thing?

@ndongンドング 一信 Hey, I've moved my blender file to the share drive and am baking from there. The blendercache shows up now and everything lives nicely. However, CR still just renders an empty screen in about 5 seconds. (I've updated my screenshot as well.. but here it is again)

Here are some screenshots now that I'm back at my PC MASTER: my shared folder (I'm saving my whole blender project here too) my UBUNTU node: is there something else I need to map over?

Hey. So I've set up a shared folder on my Linux machine and have both the CR plugin AND all of my file paths in blender/user preferences set up to read/write there on both systems. I'm still not able to render fire/smoke over CR in 2.81. Everything else in the scene renders as expected. (though, I'm not using any other systems which would require cache - I'm sure those would fail in the same way)

Tried this. However, it did not help my smoke issues.

@James Just a note this worked for me in Blender 2.81 as well. /py_3_7/

I'd love to help test it. I'm still just experimenting with multi-CPU renders so anything of great criticality is still rendered locally. Thanks for the quick response!

Thanks so much for getting back to me! I disabled CR and restarted Blender (2.81). F12 render worked fine. Same issues happens after re-enabling CR and clicking "Render Still" With CR enabled, F12 render still works brilliant. I'm sending you my client_interface.log and render_logging_local.log files since those seem to be the only two which updated after my render -- along with my .blend file which is super small at this point since it's only a smoke domain and a cube. Hey. I've been struggling with my quick smoke render as well. I will say that the render happens SO MUCH FASTER while using CR so I'm super excited to have it! About the output paths matching... my node is running Ubuntu but my master is running WIN10 so I can't have *identical* paths for my node as my master. They're both set to output to the relative \tmp\ directory. You kinda lost me on the "cached render paths" bit. When I add a cube to the scene, here's what happens: Half the scene will preview when my Master completes the render. A few moments later, when the node completes, the other half will show up in the preview. Then, a few seconds later, the whole screen goes gray. I'll try to GIF capture it and attach what's happening. (notice the smoke/fire doesn't render at all... but one step at a time, here.) This project was created before installing CR. I have done a 'save as' and saved a new file with a new name. Any help would be super appreciated. Trying to render some fire elements to composite into a film. Thanks!! Nick
